Greenfield Lake Golden Hour Guided Paddle

Come explore Greenfield Lake “after hours” as we embark on a golden hour guided tour by paddleboat in celebration of Cape Fear Creek Week. We will wind through a secluded cove, offering sightings of cypresses, fish, reptiles, and roosting birds. Along the way, we will learn about algal blooms, spillways, and watersheds—and how protecting the water quality of this hidden urban gem helps protect the Cape Fear River Basin as a whole.

One registration per paddleboat, please list all passengers (including the registrant) in your registration. Each paddleboat fits up-to four people. Limited boats available–secure your spot early!

We will meet at the Greenfield Lake Boathouse no later than 5:15, to hit the water by 5:30. Parking is available at 1739 Burnett Blvd., Wilmington, NC 28401.

Greenfield Lake Boathouse is run in support of Cape Fear River Watch.

February Second Saturday Cleanup

CFRW is partnering with Keep New Hanover Beautiful for our monthly Second Saturday cleanup. This month’s cleanup will take place on February 14th, from 9-11 a.m. We are focusing our efforts on the Greenfield Lake watershed by cleaning up the Squash Branch tribuatary. This area will require kayaks to clean, so if you have your own kayak, please feel free to bring it! We will also bring some from our fleet. Thanks to a generous donation from the Wilmington Rotary Club, we will also be using our new Jon Boat, allowing us to collect even more litter! Parking is available along Lake Branch Dr. across from Lake Forest Baptist Church (1626 Lake Branch Dr.). Follow the cleanup signs! We will provide the pickers, bags, safety vests, gloves, and a good time. The areas along the banks can get a bit mucky, so if you have waterproof boots, bring them! As always, remember to dress appropriately for the weather, bring sunscreen, and plenty of water. We hope to see you out there!
