Storm Drain Marking

We invite residents, businesses, school, scout, and/or civic groups to volunteer for our Storm Drain Marking program to help educate the community about storm-water pollution.  You will be educated about the purpose of the storm drain marking program and be led by trained personnel. Your group will adhere metal markers to targeted storm drains in our communities.

The markers let people know that anything that goes down that drain ends up in the Cape Fear River. This service activity will take about 1.5-2 hours, though will have a permanent and lasting impact on our community, as these markers help decrease pollutants entering our waterways.

For more information about our Storm Drain Marking program or to volunteer, contact Marissa Blackburn, Environmental Education Manager, at marissa@cfrw.us.

If you have information about pollution being spilled, dumped or discharged into the storm drainage system, which includes storm drains, ditches, swales, creeks, lakes, ponds, streets, or directly into a waterway, please
