Saturday Series

First Saturday Seminars – Get Thinking!

On the first Saturday of each month, we host a FREE educational seminar on a Cape Fear River related topic. Subjects range from environmental sustainability to the river’s role in the Civil War; from the history of Wilmington’s waterfront to our local ecology and neighbors. We provide a scrumptious pancake breakfast and coffee for free at every First Saturday Seminar. Come and meet other river enthusiasts, learn something new, and enjoy a great breakfast.

Second Saturday Cleanup – Get Your Hands Dirty

We organize watershed clean-ups on the second Saturday of each month in partnership with Keep New Hanover Beautiful. We pull trash and debris from our urban streams from shore or by boat—whatever it takes to keep our river clean and have some fun. Each year, our volunteers collect over 15,000 pounds of trash from our watershed. To make your region a cleaner, healthier place to live, participate regularly in our watershed clean-ups!
